This fabulous new build homestead is situated high on a ridge surrounded by dense National Park in a spectacular location overlooking Myall Lake. Constructed from scratch by Cutting Edge Building, the environmentally-sensitive home sits on top of a vast 130 000 litre water tank, providing an independent water supply through even the driest of seasons. It is also built to withstand extreme fire conditions, essential given its unique setting.
The current owners had planned to build their dream home on this rare 50-acre plot for over 30 years: the ultimate escape from the rat-race of the City. They approached Lance at Cutting Edge Building and work soon got underway – in fact, the construction period lasted just six months. The owners recall watching the steady growth of their new home, and appreciated the contact they had with Lance throughout. Ideas were exchanged and changes were made at various stages: this communication and interaction ensuring that work was always in line with their wishes.
The four-bedroom single-storey home is brick-build, with beautiful wood trimmings custom-made by Lance for the property. The aim to create a feeling of space and light throughout was successfully achieved by the team, both inside and out. Windows allow the sunshine and views in to all rooms, notably in the living room where a high raked ceiling allows for spectacular glass frontage from the floor up to the roof. The interior flows seamlessly to the exterior, with the surrounding tiled veranda providing the opportunity to relax and take in the magnificent 180° lake and forest vistas.
